Operations And Safety Consultants

We are recruiting a number of consultants to join our Operations and Safety Group to reinforce and grow our offering through internal and external relationships and exciting project opportunities.

A typical week may include:

  • Scoping the extents of an issue under consideration
  • Derive, propose and agree the methodology for the consideration of the issue
  • Scheme risk identification and mitigation
  • Identify, source, collate and analyse information from a variety of sources
  • Qualitative and quantitive review and analysis of data and evidence
  • Understanding, interpreting and summarising key points using a variety of methods and techniques (may include plotting data, undertaking numerical analysis and summarising documentation in a succinct manner)
  • Working both independently and within teams to achieve defined goals to time and cost targets and in accordance with agreed standards and governance
  • Extensive report writing using analysis
  • Facilitating and making active contributions to project team discussions and the development of ideas, concepts and project deliverables
  • Providing support to team members to help them achieve an appropriate level of skills and knowledge to improve the consultancy product
  • Working with project managers to ensure that scheme contractual, commercial and financial arrangements and KPI’s are in place, defined, followed, evidenced and met

Contributing to / leading work including:

  • Operational assessments and reviews (on highway networks and in tunnels)
  • Development of concepts and visions, drafting (new) design standards
  • Identification and implementation of governance arrangements, processes and procedures - Organisational design
  • Capturing and defining requirements (standards, KPI’s, specifications, procedures)
  • Feasibility Studies, project appraisal and business cases
  • Writing strategies and drafting policy advice
  • Operational Safety Assessments (operational safety risk)
  • Traffic data and accident analysis.
About You We’d love to hear from you if you have:
  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (for example engineering, transportation geography, psychology, liberal arts or you are a technician with BTEC, HNC/HND with an appropriate level of experience
  • A proven record and knowledge, skills and experience in highways, ITS or general engineering projects and a desire to shape the development of emerging projects and markets (for the public and private sector)
  • A professional qualification or Chartership with an appropriate institution (or are working towards one)
  • Confident, outgoing and able to work under your own initiative
  • Able to work on several tasks simultaneously and have a willingness to undertake training, learn and develop
  • Active and collaborative team members with an ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing
  • Strong on attention to detail and conscientious
  • Able to work flexibly
  • Understand the need to identify and meet utilisation targets in a competitive environment and work within corporate quality, environmental and safety systems as well as the commercial and contractual framework
  • Able to track and report on progress and outputs including identifying, implementing and realising corrective actions and technical quality
  • Keen to take ownership of your own development and exploit available opportunities
  • Able to ensure the delivery of client outcomes.
