We have a fantastic legal and contracts team who provide in-house legal advice and assistance to all divisions of Jisc (and its subsidiaries) aligned with the companys business strategy. Our legal and contracts team is committed to working in trusted partnership with all business areas of Jisc to deliver commercially focused legal advice in respect of its activities and initiatives.
You will provide additional resource to assist with preparations for the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which comes into effect on 25 May 2018. GDPR introduces new requirements for businesses in respect of data processing including the requirement for GDPR compliant terms to be incorporated into all existing and new contracts where data processing is taking place. The role reports to the group general counsel and will provide support to the legal team on GDPR project work as required.
Were looking for someone with:
A qualifying law degree (2:1) followed by the legal practice course (LPC); or non-law degree (2:1) followed by common professional examination (CPE); or graduate diploma in law (GDL) conversion course followed by the LPC
Ideally you will have commercial law experience including drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, however this is not essential
Relevant legal knowledge of technology law including digital media, data and IT contracts
You will be responsible for:
Reviewing and analysing Jiscs existing contracts with third parties to determine the level of data processing involved
Determining the contract amendments to be incorporated into each contract with a third party according to Jiscs GDPR risk categorisation and consistent with Jiscs GDPR contract process guidance and related documentation
Drafting side letters and variation agreements based on Jiscs GDPR contract templates to incorporate GDPR compliant terms tailored to the specific contract and its risk profile
Negotiating and concluding the remediation of amended contracts with third parties through side letters or contract amendments
Preparing a robust audit trail of all contract identification and remediation work carried out up to final electronic signature
Reporting on a weekly basis to the group general counsel on the status of all GDPR audit and contract remediation work in progress and completed Benefits

Jisc is a geographically-distributed organisation and travel across the UK with occasional overnight stays will be required. How to apply
