Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Please provide a portfolio demonstrating your creative abilities.

Personal qualities

Ultimately, we are looking for a team player, who is a confident communicator and proactive in their approach to work and learning.

Desired qualifications

There are no formal qualification requirements for entry although a GCSE in Art and Design or experience in a creative role would help you.

The college will carry out an initial assessment with you to help ascertain suitability for the programme, but the fundamental entry condition is your employer´s and Colleges confidence in your ability to thrive and achieve your potential as a Design Support Apprentice.

If minimum conditions are not met, we will consider candidates that demonstrate a clear commitment and aptitude at interview and initial assessment.

Future prospects

On successful completion of your apprenticeship you will achieve your L2 NVQ Diploma in Design Support. You will then be eligible to progress to the L3 and receive a subsequent pay rise. Ultimately it may lead to a permanent contract for the right candidate.

Things to consider

Candidates will want to consider how they may commute to work. We have free parking on site and the bus access depends on your route of travel. It can be a 10/15-minute walk from the office to the nearest bus stop. There is a bus route that runs from central Bristol and takes just over an hour. This might vary based on the time of day. This is essentially an Online Course which means you can remain in your workplace but will have a regular time-tabled conference call each week that normally lasts 30 to 40 minutes. Most students do also attend a one day, college workshop each term to meet other students, share ideas and review progress. You will have access to a computer with a webcam and headphones. You will be provided with conference software and will be able to show and receive work during your conference with the tutor. Your tutor will send you an email after each conference to highlight main points discussed or action needed.
