A leading manufacturing and engineering company are seeking a Head of Logistics / Head of MP&L to oversee all of their materials planning and logistics activities. Responsible for the effective movement of component parts and assemblies from supplier to point of use.

Salary: £ 65,000 - £ 75,000 p.a. + Car

The Role

  • The Head of Logistics / Head of MP&L will have overall responsibility for all Materials Planning and Logistics activities across the business
  • Create and implement best practice Materials Planning and Logistics vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
  • Oversee and manage inventory integrity and review ways to reduce inventory levels
  • Ensure IT systems in place are effective, accurate and maintained and review opportunities to standardise and streamline utilising current or new systems
  • Head of Logistics / Head of MP&L will provide leadership, and manage, coach and develop direct reports
  • Prepare the annual Materials Planning and Logistics budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with customer and legal requirements.
  • As Head of Logistics / Head of MP&L you will develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects


The Candidate

  • Educated to degree level (preferably Masters) in a relevant Logistics, commercial or engineering discipline
  • Preferably a Fellow or Member of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
  • Previous experience of leading Materials Planning and Logistics within a manufacturing environment (ideally Automotive) with expert knowledge and understanding of automotive processes and components and of supply chain management (Ideally working a Head of Logistics / Head of MP&L role previously)
  • Proven leadership and management experience within Logistics and automotive
  • Proven customer management skills
  • Expert knowledge of technical regulations and legislation
  • Strong IT systems knowledge - Advanced Excel user
  • Knowledge of raw materials, distribution of goods and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to analyse and manipulate technical and complex data and provide meaningful information
  • Knowledge of lean techniques would be advantageous
