Casual Technicians

The Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre is not only the largest theatre in Edinburgh and Scotland, but one of the largest in the UK with a capacity of just over 3000 seats. With a busy and varied programme of touring productions, West-End Musicals and high profile gigs throughout the year an opportunity has arisen to come and join the team.

We are seeking outstanding, dynamic and highly motivated individuals aged 18 or over to join our technical stage, electrics and wardrobe casual teams, as well as assisting the Maintenance team. You must be multi-skilled in all aspects of technical theatre, your energy and enthusiasm will be complemented by your calm, methodical approach to work and you will have a passion for live theatre.

Your attention to detail, organisation and planning will ensure that we deliver productions to our audiences efficiently and safely within company targets.

Key Responsibilities:
Assisting the technical teams in the safe and efficient get-in, fit-up, running and get-out of productions as and when required.

Assisting the technical teams in ensuring that the storage areas within the theatre are kept in good order and repair as and when required.

Assisting the technical teams in ensuring the smooth and safe rigging and operation of all staging, lighting and sound equipment located in the theatre as and when required.

To undertake the duties of Stage crew, Flyman, Electrician, Followspot operator or Dresser (according to preferred discipline, skills & experience) as and when required

To assist the Maintenance team in general tasks as and when required (according to experience/skills)

To attend training courses as and when required to increase skills within the venue and for your own selfdevelopment.

To be fully conversant with the companys Health and Safety policies and to adhere to all Health and Safety Procedures to minimise the risk of injury and accidents.

To have a positive attitude and contribute to a happy working environment.

Experience and skills in electrical, plumbing and carpentry works would be beneficial.
