Database Administration Production Manager

  • Reporting into the Database Administration Manager within the Operations and Technology Division.
  • The role is for a Technical Lead Production DBA managing a global estate with additional team lead responsibilities.
  • The Database team are responsible for an expanding environment of SQL Server databases used across the Group globally. The applications currently supported include but not restricted to trading platforms running in clustered environments, a Business, Intelligence platform, SharePoint plus numerous other corporate applications.
  • The successful candidate will have experience of SQL 2008R2/2012/2014 database administration, experience of managing multiple SQL RDBMS on large enterprise systems, practical experience in monitoring, security, backups, database and SQL tuning.
  • This is a permanent role.

About the role

Key responsibilities

  • Tech/team lead managing the stability of the Production environment.

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Production DBA team

  • Day to day Monitoring and managing SQL Server estate

  • Response to service/problem tickets raised against the DBA team.

  • Capacity management and monitoring

  • Proactive performance tuning and optimisation

  • writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions

  • developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans

  • SQL service pack and security patching.

Qualifications

Requirements

The candidate will work alongside other DBAs but will also be expected to be proactive and capable of identifying service enhancements. It is a hands on role with responsibilities of leading others in the environment management area. In addition, we require all candidates to have the ability to:

  • Provide technical expertise on databases for continual and sustained improved performance

  • Responsible for the performance, integrity and security of all databases

  • SQL scripting and reporting

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Energy, drive and enthusiasm, a flexible and team focused working style

  • Confident approach, self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)

Essential

  • Educated to degree standard

  • MCDBA qualified / MCITP Database Administrator

  • Experienced in SQL 2014 / SSRS 2014

  • Powershell scripting

  • 5+ years experience in SQL support and administration

Desirable

  • ServiceNow experience

  • SolarWinds System Monitoring

  • CA Workload Automation (Autosys) 11.3

  • Delphix

  • SQL Azure experience

  • Experience of other RDBMS.
