Business Development Manager

The Sales and Marketing team at Utilita Energy is currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager; a Glasgow-based role to build relationships with Housing associations, attend events and exhibitions, and promote the company ethos. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to become part of a fast-growing and innovative business and become part of Utilita´s Sales and Marketing department within the Business Development Team.

Utilita Energy is Britain´s leading supplier of smart pre-pay energy, installing every customer with market-leading smart metering equipment. Key Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager:
  • Be responsible for the development of relationships, sourcing and gaining new business
  • To attend events/exhibitions to promote the companies ethos
  • To work closely with the Senior BDM, and UK Sales Manager on any appropriate projects
  • Holding confidential information and using it with discretion following the correct procedures
  • Producing documents, reports, and presentations as required
  • Organising and maintaining own diary, and make appointments as appropriate
  • Extensive travel required
  • Contacting potential clients to arrange appointments as required
  • To be responsible for following up on meetings
  • Comply with business processes and effectively implement them
  • Apply a consistent approach to each project, implementation of processes and the management of clients
  • To ensure projects are delivered within agreed timescales
  • To manage, develop, and maintain relationships between Utilita and external clients
  • Working with the UK Sales Manager and Head of Sales and Sales Operations to devise a tailored plan to maximise potential corporate relationships
  • To prepare presentations, proposals plans, tender documents and contracts as necessary
  • Provide reports and analyses as required
  • To input creative solutions to maximise opportunity
  • To work closely with the Project Liaison on all projects, to ensure a consistent approach
  • To target Landlords, Local Authorities and Housing Associations, to procure dual branded marketing campaigns, and void agreements on behalf of Utilita Energy
What we are looking for in a Business Development Manager

  • Have a flexible approach to work
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Hold a Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences both verbally and in writing
  • To have a professional approach to successfully communicate with colleagues
  • To have good analytical and problem-solving skills
Essential Criteria

  • Educated to A Level or equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of compliance processes and basic understanding of Energy Industry
  • A strong track record of sales, and achieving targets in a relevant, commercially-focused environment
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering targets and achieving success within frameworks.

  • To be responsible for updating own practices and professional knowledge
  • To undertake personal development activities as agreed with Line Manager
