Environment Health And Safety Officer (biologics)

Your Role:
To assist in the implementation of the short and long-term plans of the Health and Safety department to raise the standards of Health and Safety within the organisation.

To assist in the development of priorities and options to enable management to effectively decide which resources are required to ensure correct policy decisions regarding Health and Safety issues across the organisation are taken.

To assist all managers and all supervisors in the development of and implementation of safety policies & procedures in order that compliance with all necessary statutory requirements is maintained.

To assist managers and supervisors to identify hazards in the workplace and aid them in taking any corrective action which initiates or controls risk.

To offer suitable advice and guidance to management and staff within the organisation on;

a) Safe Systems of Work

b) Interpretation of legislative requirements

c) Selection and use of suitable risk control measures to promote a safe working environment to enable the organisation to fulfil its obligations.

Who you are:
Educated to degree level in a biological subject.

NEBOSH diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.

Ideally working experience of a laboratory environment.

Experience of hazards in the working environment.

Experience of risk assessment programmes.

Experience in working with government agencies.

Effective oral and written communication skills with ability to tailor communication to suit different audiences.

Working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.

Knowledge of risk assessment programmes.
