Y Company - 8 Rifles are recruiting spare time Soldiers in numerous job roles throughout South & West Yorkshire.
Vacancies include: -
No prior experience necessary, fully paid training/education will be provided. Civilian qualifications at varying levels will be achieved post trade training. Applicants should apply between the ages of 17 years & 9 months to 49 years & 9 months.
In addition to a daily rate of pay (£38-£120 per day dep exp), motor mileage expenses, paid annual leave, pension, free gym, paid qualifications and more, new joiners also receive a joining incentive of £2,300 to complete their training, which also qualifies for the Reserve annual bonus of up to £1,759 .
**New Soldiers joining the Army Reserve will earn over £4K in pay/bonuses for completing a total of 5 weeks training !!**
Ex-Regular Soldiers having left the Army as a Sergeant or below in the last 6 years are entitled to a joining incentive of £10,000 in addition to the Reserve bounty of £1,759 annually.
Y Company are a light role rifle Company & anti-tank Platoon based in Doncaster and Pontefract. We are an element of newly formed 8th Battalion The Rifles, the Army Reserve Infantry Battalion of the Midlands and North East. Y Company, formerly Y Platoon is a growing new company location currently comprised of approximately 50 part-time soldiers with an abundance of job vacancies and opportunities for promotion. Our Soldiers come from a wide variety of backgrounds from across South & West Yorkshire.
The Battalion´s principal mission is to train and prepare Reserve Riflemen for front line operations, where they serve alongside and integrate within Regular RIFLES units. Army Reserve service in Y Company and 8 RIFLES allows individuals to enjoy the long list of benefits available in the military but on a part-time basis around their civilian lives/work. Choosing when/if they can commit their time rather than being forced. Army Reserve soldiers get involved in everything the Regular Army does from combat, peacekeeping, humanitarian work and supporting your local community.
Training takes place over periodic weekends throughout the year, training evenings during the week and a 2-week period each year. Attendance at any specific training event is voluntary to take account of an individual´s civilian commitments.
Reserve Riflemen are PAID for the training they undertake and can earn a financial bonus of £444 to £1,759 at the end of each financial year. The training is extremely varied, based upon the sort of skills all soldiers need and includes military training, adventurous training, fitness training and sport, together with overseas travel.
Reserve Riflemen wishing to commit to further training or an operational tour alongside a Regular Unit could do so. Ex Regular Army Officers and Soldiers are very welcome and joining the Reserves may attract a financial bonus.
With a commitment of as little as 27 days per year you can fit more adventure into your life with opportunities to travel and train that fit around your day job - you´ll be paid for the time you spend and gain skills and qualifications that will help you in your everyday life too.
You´ll do lots of different activities with other Reservists and Regulars, both locally and further afield. Everybody who joins us is primarily a soldier, but youll also be trained in other skills such as Communications, Medical and Driving plus more.
The training will help you to develop in areas of leadership and teamwork.

Your daily pay will go up with each promotion. We offer financial incentives, a tax-free annual bonus, a non-contributory pension, and paid holiday for every 10 days you spend in training, youll get one day of paid holiday. There are opportunities to train in places such as California, Cyprus, Spain, Australia, Canada or Kenya and many other countries.
