Life Is On
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced
Manufacturing Manager to join a global engineering organisation based in Leeds.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacturing operations
on a plant wide basis and will take responsibility for between 80-100 direct
and indirect reports.
This is a low volume, high complexity manufacturing operation
and the success of the manufacturing function is heavily reliant upon labour
rather than automation and therefore it is imperative that the successful
candidate has extensive management experience.
You will be responsible for managing up to half a dozen Process Managers
who look after Team Leaders who in turn manage the plant operatives, and so
demonstrable experience of hierarchical management will be required.
In terms of key performance indicators, youll be looking at
year on year labour productivity rather than materials and youll be monitored
on developing talent, challenging underperformance and talent planning.
The Manufacturing Manager will also play a client facing role
and will be responsible for undertaking site tours with clients and
facilitating FAT on site
It is essential that the successful candidate has proven experience in a
manufacturing environment and ideally with an appreciation of electrical
engineering or panel wiring.
You would also benefit from an understanding of lean
manufacturing, six sigma and continuous improvement as these areas will
regularly work together in the business.
There will be occasional travel to other sites in the UK and Overseas to ensure
that best practice is championed and developed.
- A degree would be beneficial in Operations Management,
Engineering, Manufacturing or related field.
- Be fully conversant with good manufacturing and engineering practices,
including lean manufacturing techniques.
- Experience of lean processes and techniques is a requirement
- Good man management skills, self-driven, positive can-do attitude with good
communication skills at all levels.
- Experience in manufacturing including people management.
- Good motivation, leadership and coaching skills.
- Ability to develop people and to improve processes and systems
is our heritage and our future. Be a part of it.
