Pharmacy Dispenser Apprentice

Excellent opportunity to work in a modern pharmacy located in a busy GP surgery which will give the applicant a vast learning platform.

Working from our Pharmacy in Kensington, Liverpool, as a Dispensing Assistant, you would predominantly assemble prescribed medicines. You will also be involved with stock management, the receipt of prescriptions, and the issue of prescribed medicines, under the supervision of the Pharmacist.

As an Apprentice Pharmacy Assistant, you will also be assisting with counter service and dealing with customers.

To dispense medication as stated on prescriptions
Maintain minimum stock levels of medicines
Place accurate and timely orders with suppliers and accept deliveries of medication
Dispense patient dosette boxes (blister packs) and associated administration.
Endorse prescriptions accurately by checking prices with suppliers as necessary
Maintain and order stocks of dispensary and NHS stationery.
Issue repeat prescriptions as requested by patients within the agreed time-scale
Maintain confidentiality and discretion when dealing with customer information
Ensure that all Care at the Chemist documents are filled in and up to date online and on the computer.
Ensure that all returns of stocks are correct and stock credits are issued.
Ensure that all end of month prescriptions are filled correctly and correctly posted
Disposing of confidential information properly (e.g. shredding)

Future prospects

From the level 2 course a student may progress to the Level 3 courses which train you in the role of a Pharmacy Technician. A full time role may be available upon completion of the apprenticeship for the right candidates
Things to consider

The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Reality Check The job requires lots of standing, however most of time this would be when attending to patients and dispensing medications. Important Information Will involve weekend work Other Important Information To Be Considered Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
