Room Attendant

We currently have multiple vacancies and training running for employer partner WGC, who are looking to recruit Room Attendant´s for multiple hotels across Manchester and Salford.

Brief overview of role

To ensure a high standard of cleanliness and performance.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

For full guest checkouts the Room Attendant will fully service the bedroom. This will include changing all the bed linen and making up beds; vacuum all the carpeted areas and dust the worktops and remove all the rubbish from the room in order that the main bedroom area is available for re-sale.

For guests stayovers - the Room Attendant will make the bed only replenishing linen as required; vacuum all the carpeted areas and dust the work tops working around bags and personal effects where possible so that the customer can return to a cleaned and tidy room. Only empty bins.

For all rooms both checkouts and stayovers - the Room Attendant will fully clean the bathrooms to include the shower floor area, basin, toilet, mirror; replenish all toiletry products, replenish towels and remove rubbish so that the bathroom is fully clean and serviced.

For all rooms both checkouts and stayovers - the Room Attendant will replenish the tea and coffee making facilities and remove/replace the guests feedback cards and other room literature.

For all checkouts:

- the Room Attendant will check all equipment in the room is working and report faults/breakages to reception.

- ensure no guests personal belongings have been left in the room and if so report this immediately to reception.

- complete a bed audit when changing the bed i.e. a check on the Mattresses/Protectors and pillows for stains. When stains etc., are detected complete a linen reject form for the Head Housekeeper.

- undertake additional cleaning duties to include the general cleaning of front of house areas e.g. dining areas & public toilets, as part of the legal requirement to provide a clean and hygienically safe environment.

- will undertake the above duties working on a rotational basis and any additional duties as requested by management.

- arrange the trolley at the beginning of the shift and stock it up with sufficient linen and towels, food products and toiletries from the stores to service the allocation of rooms for the shift.

Health and Safety

Health and Safety is everyone´s responsibility. The post holder will be expected to comply with Health and Safety instruction as set out in WGC Services Limited Health and Safety Policy. The post holder will take an active part in ensuring that the organisation complies with the requirements of a safe working environment and also make the Health and Safety Manager aware of any possible areas of concern.

Experience required

No experience is necessary, although previous experience within a hotel environment is desirable. After on the job training, the post holder must be able to learn by experience and be able to follow simple written and/or oral instructions, be able to operate a range of powered cleaning machines, and handle all cleaning agents as per COSHH training.

Specific Aptitude/skills required

The post holder will use their own initiative to report urgent repairs to reception and deal with any specific incidents. They must possess the necessary interpersonal skills to deal politely, efficiently and helpfully with all customers. A key skill is the ability to act in a sensitive and diplomatic way when dealing with customers. A high level of flexibility is required to cover changes in services, dependant on business levels and requirements. The post holder must be prepared to extend working hours at short notice within limits. Room Attendants must be prepared to work in any area unless specialist training has not been given.
