Linen Porter

We currently have multiple vacancies and training running for employer partner WGC, who are looking to recruit Linen Porter´s for multiple hotels across Manchester and Salford.

Brief overview of role

To ensure that there is sufficient clean linen and towels of the accepted standard for Room Attendants to make up rooms.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • To collect and separate soiled linen at regular intervals and remove them to the designated area.
  • To count the soiled linen into laundry bags and/or process the soiled linen in the on-site laundry.
  • To deliver clean linen & towels to the designated store rooms.
  • To maintain the records for the movement of linen and towels.
  • To reject any linen and/or towels that are not up the agreed quality and appearance.
  • To keep records of rejected linen and towels.
  • To assist in mattress turning as directed by the housekeeper.
  • To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required.
  • To maintain the cleanliness of the linen store area.
  • To report any maintenance defects to the housekeeper.
  • To be security conscious at all times.
  • To be helpful and courteous to guests and colleagues.
  • To ensure that everyone adheres to uniform and grooming standards as dictated by the Service User.

Health and Safety

Health and Safety is everyone´s responsibility. The post holder will be expected to comply with Health and Safety instruction as set out in WGC Services Health and Safety Policy. The post holder will take an active part in ensuring that the organisation complies with the requirements of a safe working environment and also make that the Health and Safety Manager aware of any possible area of concern.

Experience required

Previous experience within a hotel environment is desirable. After on the job training the post holder must be able to learn by experience and be able to follow simple written and/or oral instructions.

Specific Aptitude/skills required

The post holder must possess the necessary interpersonal skills to deal politely, efficiently and helpfully with all customers. A key skill is the ability to act in a sensitive and diplomatic way when dealing with customers. A high level of flexibility is required to cover changes in services, dependant on business levels and requirements. The post holder must be prepared to extend working hours at short notice within limits. The Linen Porter must be prepared to work in any area unless specialist training has not been given.
