Housekeeping Supervisor

We currently have multiple vacancies and training running for employer partner WGC, who are looking to recruit Housekeeping Supervisor´s for multiple hotels across Manchester and Salford.

Brief overview of role;

Supervises the room attendants team to deliver a beyond expectations service.

Main Duties/Responsibilities;

1. Checks the work of all housekeeping staff to ensure it meets the required standard

2. To check the specified number of rooms each day.

3. Advises the Head Housekeeper when rooms are ready.

4. Oversees the linen room and all cleaning related stock to ensure there are adequate supplies and reports any issues to the head housekeeper.

5. Supervises the linen porter and public area cleaner to ensure their duties are performed to standard.

6. Investigates complaints concerning the room attendants, informs the head housekeeper and where required takes immediate action.

7. Responsible for reporting any malfunctioning equipment to the head housekeeper.

8. Manages all items handed in and any property or guest keys found in check out rooms.

9. Assists the Head Housekeeper in training of all new employees to the standards required.

10. Identifies and reports maintenance requirements.

11. Completes all paperwork relevant to the supervisory role.

12. Carries out any other cleaning duties as specified by the head housekeeper.

13. Keeps service and linen cupboards tidy and correctly stocked, and closed at all times when not in use.

14. Completes additional and daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks as required by the head housekeeper.

15. Reports any missing items from rooms e.g. bathrobes, soap dishes etc. to the head housekeeper.

16. Is aware and makes full use of recycling facilities within the service areas.

17. Has proper regard for both guest and hotel property.

18. Reports to the Head Housekeeper anything or anyone suspicious.

19. Ability to handle guests concerns and comments and pass these on to the head housekeeper.

20. Ensures the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and professional presentation of all areas.

21. Ability to read memos, communication log and safety rules and pass on all relevant information to the team on site as directed by the head housekeeper.

22. Ability to join in regular staff meetings and to assist the head housekeeper with these meetings.

23. Ability to communicate to the room attendant team.

24. Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers.

25. Takes action in all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction and well being of hotel guests and employees. Responds swiftly and effectively in any hotel emergency or safety situation.

26. Perform other tasks as assigned by the head housekeeper.

27. Is accountable for the operations assets and personal actions.

28. To ensure you read the hotel´s employee handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the Service Users rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.

29. Undertakes other duties and responsibilities which, while outside the normal routine, are within the overall scope of the position.

30. Reports for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform/attire and name badge. To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the required personal appearance standards.

31. Provides a friendly, courteous and professional service at all times.

32. Attends training courses and meetings as required.

33. Ensures that you remain up to date with regards to Manual Handling and COSHH as relevant to your role.

34. Makes all efforts and base all actions to ensure that we operate to beyond expectations standards.

Health and Safety;

Health and Safety is everyone´s responsibility. The post holder will be expected to comply with health and safety instruction as set out in WGC Services Health and Safety Policy. The post holder will take an active part in ensuring that the organisation complies with the requirements of a safe working environment and also make the Health and Safety Manager aware of any possible areas of concern.

Qualification/Education required;

A good standard of education and use of English is required for this post.

Experience required;

The post holder will require extensive housekeeping and supervisory experience gained in a hotel environment. Previous experience of managing people is required.

Specific Aptitude/skills required;

A key skill is the ability to understand staffing models and budgetary process. The post holder should demonstrate excellent leadership skills, be approachable and adaptable and understand how to motivate a housekeeping team.
