The Legal Services Delivery Team operates globally, supporting each of the five practice groups, and was set up to enable Hogan Lovells to keep pace with the current rate of change in the legal services market by working with our lawyers, business services teams and external experts to:

i. Improve the efficiency of our legal services delivery capability through the introduction and adoption of legal project management, use of legal delivery centres in Birmingham and expansion into Louisville and Johannesburg, legal process reengineering, identification of new technology and the constant education of the firm as to the business of law;

ii. Improve the quality of our legal service delivery to ensure that we not only meet and exceed client expectations but that which may be delivered by new or potential new entrants into the legal services market through core areas of concern including but not limited to: consistency of service quality; relationship management; business and market ´savvy´; value pricing; style and approach;

iii. Constantly innovating what we do and how we deliver our legal services to clients.

This role reports to the Head of Legal Service Delivery and will support initiatives on a global basis.

Responsibilities

Within the Legal Services Delivery Team, the principal objectives of the Process Improvement Manager are:

Improve the efficiency of our legal services delivery capability through the introduction and adoption of legal project management, use of legal delivery centres in Birmingham and expansion into Louisville and Johannesburg, legal process reengineering, identification of new technology and the constant education of the firm as to the business of law;

Improve the quality of our legal service delivery to ensure that we not only meet and exceed client expectations but that which may be delivered by new or potential new entrants into the legal services market through core areas of concern including but not limited to: consistency of service quality; relationship management; business and market ´savvy´; value pricing; style and approach;

Constantly innovating what we do and how we deliver our legal services to clients.

Work with key internal and external stakeholders including lawyers, Finance, IT, support staff, vendors and clients to identify, scope, plan, manage and deliver strategic projects.

Provide expertise, guidance and support on best practices as required to practice groups and departments across the firm.

Ensure that clear understanding of the objectives and deliverables is obtained on change related work and projects and that there is buy-in obtained by all parties impacted.

Lead the analysis process into systematic problems and business issues, consult key stakeholders, document proposed solutions and drive change in the legal service. Collaborate with multiple internal teams to drive process improvements.

Work with other teams to ensure successful delivery of assigned change projects on time and on budget.

Work closely with colleagues in the Legal Services team and in other teams to ensure seamless service to the firm with consistent methodologies, processes and documentation.

Employ structured change methodologies to drive change and efficiency.

Assist in the development of the Hogan Lovells legal services change methodology.

Continually review processes and improvements to ensure that they are in line with the firms expectations.

Deliver assigned projects (with appropriate parties) on time and on budget.

Production of regular documents and reports using Hogan Lovells standard templates.

Candidate Profile

Legal Market and Law Firm experience, ideally in a professional capacity.

Experience working as a lawyer or a paralegal, desirable.

Experience of engaging with partners and firm leadership, at the highest level to support and influence key firm initiatives.

Experience and knowledge of project management and lean six sigma methodology.

Substantial project management and legal service change experience.

Substantial business analysis and internal consultancy experience including proven commercial consulting and client facing experience.

Capable of precise and timely delivery of projects.

Dealing with customer requirements; facilitating customer workshops.

Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently both verbally and in writing.

Able to present ideas in a variety of ways depending upon audience and aim.

Sensitive to cultural and group dynamics.

Able to work on their own and as part of a team, and being self-motivated.

Excellent presentation skills in front of internal clients and the firm´s management.

Experience in resource management, risk and issue management, calculating/measuring ROI (Return on Investment).

Strong stakeholder management skills.

Generation and collation of project documentation.

Creating and managing communication strategies (with help of others).

Microsoft Project skills, Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills.

Ability to gain an understanding of a process, map it, and identify improvements using any of the widely accepted project tools such as Visio and Aris.

Motivated by responsibility but accepts accountability to others.

Results oriented and able to drive change.
