In your role as Portfolio Manager youll lead and manage key portfolio(s) on a day to day basis to ensure long term member value is optimised at all stages of the credit life cycle whilst remaining within the agreed risk appetite of the business. Manage and control all aspects of credit risk on the Bank´s key retail portfolio(s) and provide evidence based reassurance that all decisions, processes, systems and documentation fully comply with all internal and external requirements be they regulatory, prudential, conduct or business etc

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Educated to degree level in an analytical discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Extensive experience of credit risk management and associated analytical techniques and practices. This should include good knowledge of scorecards, pricing models, stress testing & forecasting.
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills including ability to stop and withdraw product launches, changes to sales levels/mix and campaigns that erode long term member value as well as peers in Risk to inform and change models, forecasts & strategies. The role holder will also be required to influence stakeholders to secure resource for various initiatives.
  • Very strong communication (written and verbal) skills, including well developed presentation skills
  • Persuasiveness and inter-personal influencing skills
  • Networking and team skills required to coach, share with and learn from peers in Risk and more widely particularly on insights on the portfolio and further opportunities to create member value.
  • Strong understanding of acquisition, customer management and arrears processes, systems and practices along with commercial, financial and legislative requirements and issues affecting the wider financial services industry. This will need to include the secured systems and processes in order to obtain a customer view.
  • Thorough understanding of Credit Reference Agencies and their associated data.
  • Proven Leadership and Performance Management skills and experience to drive the performance and contribution of a team of Managers and Analysts
  • Planning and organisation expertise including proven track record within a credit risk management environment in developing creative solutions to complex issues and delivery within defined timescales.
  • Thorough understanding of the underwriting processes & controls.
  • Thorough understanding of Retail Bank data infrastructure and decision systems in respect of the Secured Retail asset base, particularly those impacting on customer decisioning.
  • Planning and organisation expertise including proven track record within a credit risk management environment in developing creative solutions to complex issues and delivery within defined timescales.
