Barclays are recruiting for a permanent Data Analyst to work in the Barclays site in Manchester
Overall purpose of role
To support the MI Manager in assimilating a variety of disparate data sources into a cohesive and accurate portrayal of operational performance, including the facilitation of a robust data architecture to help key operation stakeholders in Collections.
Requirements gathering – meeting with stakeholders to discuss their request, and determine the best way to go about it. Using existing knowledge to inform them of any known issues, and discussing timescales
Data discovery – finding the data needed to produce the assigned analysis - whether it be spreadsheet data from other teams or fields in BIW, ensuring the definition and interpretation of the data is correct. Assessing the quality of the data in order to gauge whether the analysis will be possible.
Data Extraction – writing complex SQL queries via Teradata to extract data from BIW into the format required for the report, ensuring datasets created are accurate and complete
Data Manipulation – pulling together all required data into Excel or SAS and using complex formulae to get the data into the format required for the final report.
Analysis – looking at the final values and any trends, whilst also taking any data integrity issues in the data, in order to draw a conclusion from it.
Presentation – presenting the final data in a way that is most suitable for the intended audience, using tables, graphs and commentary as appropriate to illustrate the conclusions, and highlighting any caveats in the data
Producing monthly updates to senior stakeholders including board papers, keeping up to date with ever-changing requirements
Developing and maintaining complex SQL and SAS scripts for BAU reporting
Experience of working with complex data from disparate sources to produce insightful analysis within a debt/collections environment
Experience of writing SQL and a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
A self-motivated team player able to work on own initiative; manage time effectively and prioritise own workload; able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and adjust priorities as required
A high level of attention to detail
Experience of using data analysis software (preferably SAS)
Ability to write VBA desirable
A good communicator capable of influencing senior management
