My client manufactures large Industrial Machinery and Recycling Solutions, supplying to both the UK and International Markets. They are a lead player in their field, with innovative and award winning designs. Due to an increased workload they are looking for a hands on Assistant Works Manager to join their fitting team.
This position is responsible for coordinating the planning, scheduling and assembly of machines to the agreed delivery dates. Communicating the requirements of these targets to the workforce. Maintaining a disciplined, productive and safe environment for employees to work and achieve their individual targets.
The role requires good man management and mechanical skills in order to co-ordinate shop floor activities, and assist with the hands on fitting and refurbishment of the machines. You will have a high level of practical experience within a mechanical assembly environment, and be able to work with the other managers contributing to shop-floor output.
Currently working in a technical engineering environment looking to progress into a management role, you will have a good understanding of:
Mechanical and hydraulic components and assembly
Commissioning and testing hydraulic systems
Workshop based equipment and use of tools to install fixtures and fittings
Quality systems and continuous improvement
Health and safety standards
Development of the complete management control of all employees.
Involvement with the management of all site personnel; including communication, appraisal, disciplinary, employee hours.
Management and reporting of site performance and other information.
Direct day-to-day involvement of the management of company technical, quality and engineering activities.
Improving personnel capability through application of process training and education.
Contributing to change and improvement to services, products and systems.
Planning, monitoring and controlling the use of resources with budget and recommending expenditure.
Performs other duties as dictated by position or required by the Works Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
5+ years mechatronics engineer in production / assembly (incl. 2+ years management)
Apprenticeship as a Mechanical Fitter
Experience of bespoke assembly operations
Demonstrated multi-disciplinary team work and leadership
Great verbal and written communication skills
