Overview of the role

As a Buying Manager in the Healthcare Sourcing team, you will work in a multifunctional team environment, collaborating with colleagues in the technical, brand and supply functions to help ensure we are bringing owned brand product to market that delight consumers and contribute to the companies profitable growth . Key responsibilities of the role include managing a team of 2-3 buyers, driving profit enhancement initiatives, developing and managing several strategic supplier relationships, support vendor enabled new product introduction (NPD) while also ensuring robust supply chains are developed in order to maintain high service levels. This is a key, high profile sourcing role for which we are looking for an experienced Buying Manager ideally with a Healthcare/OTC/Medicinal sourcing background with good technical understanding of the OTC market, a track record of delivering strong business results through the management of external vendor partners and internal stakeholder engagement. The individual should operate as a business partner to the broader enterprise.

Your Responsibilities

Lead key relationships with internal partners to identify and implement business opportunities through shared work-streams

Develop and lead sourcing category strategies, successfully delivering those through your team members

Manage key strategic supplier relationships through performance management and implementing growth ambitions

Identify, manage and deliver a long term pipeline of cost reduction initiatives, empowering your team whilst doing so

Lead strategic negotiations, implement complex commercial agreements to reduce risk and create value

Identify, create and deliver on-going continuous improvement for internal procedure and processes

Work seamlessly with your sourcing colleagues across the UK and Globe (mainly Asia & US).

Manage, coach & develop a team of 2-3 Buyers for the delivery of the above activities

There will be requirement on occasion for domestic or international travel.

Our Ideal Candidate

Healthcare/OTC/Licensed Medicine Sourcing experience

Good technical understanding of the UK OTC market and product landscape

Excellent relationship builder

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Passionate about people development, driving your team successfully through challenging and complex situations

Tenacious, articulate and a skilled commercial negotiator

The successful candidate will be an individual who can work autonomously, is an independent thinker but able to drive the team forward in delivery

The role demands a high level of business acumen including global influencing, negotiation, contract and supplier management skills

Previous experience of managing people is expected, working towards CIPS qualifications is ideal.
