Production Line Manager

Due to continued growth and investment, my client has an opportunity for a PRODUCTION LINE MANAGER to join their strong team and work within the Machining department at their site in Sheffield.
This is a great opportunity to be part of a successful company within the precision engineering sector.

THE ROLE:
To control and improve all production process within designated cells by managing people, time and resources to meet the business targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Control planning and scheduling of workload
Achieve output demands by managing and reviewing capacity and resources appropriately
Review the production programme to determine manufacturing requirements in terms of manning, capacity and resources.
Develop manning plans in line with the budget to achieve the company´s objectives.
Identify and implement lean improvement opportunities prioritising in order of importance.
Identify and manage KPIs on key outputs and display in the appropriate areas.
Recommend new work methods, layouts, processes and equipment to improve performance.
Ensuring quality and health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
Liaise with the Quality team to review scrap issues, non-conformance products and quality problem areas and action to resolve.
Ensure that the ERP system runs smoothly in line with other departments and is accurately updated
Ensure that all machines and equipment are maintained in a satisfactory condition to maintain
product quality and improve the general environment.
Supervise and develop Cell Team Leaders by delegating, coaching and managing individuals.
Ensuring that all personnel perform their duties in a timely and efficient manner,
Conducting staff appraisals, providing training, coaching and discipline where required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Strong man management skills with managerial/supervisory experience, ideally in a high-volume machining environment
Organised and methodical with good problem-solving skills
Good team player with the ability to engage the workforce
Sound knowledge of all aspects of Lean manufacturing, CI and OEE principles
Have a solid understanding of CI and OEE principles.
Excellent IT written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of MRP systems and understanding of planning process.
Qualified to minimum Degree level in Engineering or relevant discipline would be desirable.
Knowledge of an engineering environment with an understanding of metals, machining, polishing and grinding processes
