Senior Town Planner

My client is an award-winning and innovative multidisciplinary consultancy specialising in architecture, town planning and urbanism.

Established over 25 years ago, this practice have developed an multi-disciplinary team of planners and designers delivering a core set of seven key services including Architecture, Planning, Master planning, Landscape Architecture, Project Management and consultation. They have an outstanding reputation for creating inspirational and deliverable development projects for public and private sector clients throughout the country.

They are now looking for a Senior Town Planner to join their expanding team in their west Yorkshire office on a permanent basis.

Role & Responsibilities

Candidates will be required to take a lead role on projects and to work with others to deliver successful outcomes for our commercial developer and house builder clients. You will also be working colleagues in the development management, Land Promotion and Architecture teams to win new work to help drive the growth of the business.

Extensive experience in the preparation, submission and management of a range of planning applications and appeals for residential, mixed-use or logistics projects
Confident in managing both clients and projects
Commercially aware with business development skills and the proven ability to win work to contribute to the growth of the business
Skilled in negotiation and in liaising with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
Strong in written communication with an ability to provide clear and concise reasoned advice to clients
Able to manage workload, budgets and to co-ordinate projects (with colleagues and sub-consultants)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years post qualification experience, preferably including working in private practice
  • Either be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or working to achieve that qualification
  • Extensive experience in the preparation, submission and management of a range of planning applications and appeals for residential, mixed-use or logistics projects. Experience of working on planning appeals would also be desirable
  • Confident in managing both clients and projects
  • Commercially aware with business development skills and the proven ability to win work to contribute to the growth of the business
  • Skilled in negotiation and in liaising with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
  • Strong in written communication with an ability to provide clear and concise reasoned advice to clients

  • Full UK driving licence plus access to a car
Salary & Package

The successful candidate will be rewarded with a salary of circa £55,000 DOE. Candidates will be offered bi-annual appraisals and ongoing mentoring to support your professional development.
